May 2024: Nanovaccine Institute

Over the course of the year I was given the opportunity to create a piece for Dr. Don Sakaguchi and the Nanovaccine Institute at Iowa State. Sakaguchi’s research lab aims to utilize neural progenetor cells and stem cells to treat neurodegenerative diseases. My goal was to make an engaging illustration of a generalized multipolar neuron displaying select sensory and ion gated channels using directional and cross sectional views. With the use of modeling software such as Cinema 4D and Zbrush, the illustration displays key diagnostic features of the channels and communicates understanding and support of the research being presented to scientists interested in the neuroscience field via print and digital presentation. This image will be published in the Cell Biology and Translational Medicine, part of the Advances in Experimental Medicine an Biology series.

May 2023: Science Center of Iowa

I had the pleasure of working with an Iowa State Biological Pre-medical Illustration design team to develop a window piece for the Science Center of Iowa’s Innovation Lab. They were looking for a display that would engage pedestrians with the mission of imagination and exploration that the Innovation Lab celebrates, while also maintaining the natural light and privacy of those creating inside. As a creative director on the team, I worked to develop themes and maintain art direction, that images remained cohesive to our intended message.
